The coalition has reached an agreement on the Spring Budget. What does this mean for your business? Below, we've outlined the main measures that could affect your operations:
- VAT and excise duty: no increases for culture, sports, media, dairy, soy drinks and alcohol.
- Rental market and energy tax: social rents remain unchanged, housing benefit increases, €200 million earmarked for lowering energy tax.
- Wages, unemployment benefit, childcare and disability: youth minimum wage rises, tax-free anniversary bonus remains, shorter unemployment benefit duration, no cutbacks on childcare, reform of the Disability Insurance Act.
- Defence and asylum: €1.1 billion for defence, €900 million for asylum costs.
- Legal aid and municipalities: €30 million extra for social legal aid, billions for municipalities.
- Nitrogen, climate and infrastructure: €600 million for tackling nitrogen issues and supporting farmers, funding for the Nedersaksen railway line.
