This is how much you can save with the SLIM subsidy

If you want your SME to remain successful, you’ll need to keep investing. Developments are moving at lightning speed, and it’s a challenge to keep up. Both employers and employees need to anticipate these changes and ensure timely training and upskilling. Make sure your staff have the skills they’ll need for the future.

The government supports this investment under the programme Leven lang leren (Lifelong learning) and makes funding available through the SLIM subsidy scheme. Applications for this round can be submitted from 1 September to 30 September 2022.

Phase 1: development scan

The development scan shows that the company is struggling to retain people, skewing the age structure of the workforce.

  • A relatively high proportion of employees are aged 50+;
  • Company-specific knowledge is not being sufficiently transferred to younger employees;
  • The technically skilled operations manager (50+) is running up against a culture of blame;
  • In the short term, young talent needs to be attracted in order to strengthen competitiveness against China.

Phase 2: Action plan

p>The action plan includes the following steps:

  • Improving prospects and opportunities for young talent:
    • Update job profiles to align them with the current situation.
    • Set up development programmes for employees, supported by a structured review cycle.
  • Active knowledge sharing:
    • Map out key areas of expertise.
    • Introduce an internal buddy system.
  • Enhancing leadership skills:
    • Managers will dedicate more time and attention to employee development, supported by coaching or leadership training.

Phase 3: Procedure

Our HR adviser will be on site one day a week to:

  • Tailor the tools (profiles, review cycle, and buddy system) to the company and support their implementation;
  • Provide support during development conversations;
  • Facilitate follow-up, evaluate progress, and adjust actions as needed.

This way, managers receive long-term support in developing their employees.
