Acquisition: Antonides CV

Family-owned company Boom, a leading supplier of laboratory equipment, has expanded through the acquisition of fellow lab supplier Antonides. De Jong & Laan supported Boom throughout this acquisition process.

Acquisition: Antonides CV

The origins of Boom go back to 1895, when the company began trading in products for, among other things, dairy production. Over the years the product range was expanded, the company grew through acquisitions, and new markets were opened up. Today the fourth generation of the Boom family is at the helm of the company.

In Meppel, Boom has 5,000 sqm of warehouse space, allowing a large part of its range to be delivered directly from stock. The company’s offering includes equipment, chemicals, and other supplies for laboratories, selling a selection of products under Boom's own label. The company also operates a production facility for chemicals and reagents.

Acquisition of family business Antonides

Boom’s activities are now expanding further through the acquisition of Antonides CV from Vollenhove, representing a horizontal integration of two established players in the laboratory supplies market.

The family-owned Antonides, founded in 1962, offers a comparable product range of laboratory supplies and chemicals and has been successful with its own branded chemistry kit under the name Interchema. It also operates in-house production of Gamma-pak sample bags, milk contamination test filters, and various (sterile) pre-packaged disposable sets.

Seamless match

The activities of Boom and Antonides complement each other very well, allowing both companies to maintain their strong focus on high service levels and customer-specific solutions.

Following the acquisition, Antonides will initially continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, meaning that locations and staffing will remain unchanged. Together with Antonides, Boom is committed to continuing to serve its customers with the quality they are accustomed to.

Acquisition support

  • Analysis of business information and financial data;
  • Defining the bidding strategy together;
  • Leading the negotiations;
  • Conducting the due diligence investigation;
