Reap the benefits of horizontal monitoring

The rules

Horizontal monitoring is not without obligation. One key requirement is that we, on your behalf or that of your business, initiate discussions with the Tax Administration about tax matters that they may interpret differently. By choosing horizontal monitoring, you are opting in for both your business and for your personal taxes. As a rule, it applies to personal income tax, corporate income tax, VAT, and payroll taxes, as well as tax collection.

Participation

It’s entirely your choice whether to participate in horizontal monitoring. You can join through us, based on our agreement with the Tax Administration. Because horizontal monitoring comes with certain considerations, we will go through these with you in detail first.

If we conclude together that horizontal monitoring suits you and your business operations, we will ask you to sign a so-called declaration of participation and register you for the scheme. In this declaration, you confirm that you:

  • wish to engage with the Tax Administration based on trust, mutual understanding, and transparency
  • will provide accurate, complete, and timely information for your tax returns
  • intend to pay any tax owed correctly, on time, and in full

What if horizontal monitoring isn’t right for me?

If you choose not to participate, nothing changes in the quality of our service, our role as your advisor, or the Tax Administration's opinion. The only difference lies in the way you liaise with the Tax Administration and how they check your returns.
